In this article, we will outline how connect to the I drive, our departmental shared drive. This will allow you to connect both on campus and at home. CU Issued computers should automatically connect, but there are cases where that doesn't happen. Follow the instructions below to configure Network Drive access if needed:
Mac OS
- Setting up network drives for home use is different for Mac users, follow the link here for instructions.
Windows PC
Follow the steps below for setting up the I Drive for your computer by following the instructions below:
On-Campus re-connection
Your Network Drives should already be mapped when you are on campus. If they aren't, you can use the Drive Mapper tool to reconnect them. The Drive Mapper has a star icon, and should be on your desktop. If you don't have the Drive Mapper on the desktop, you can find instructions on how to re-download it below.
- Click on the Drive Mapper icon.
- This will open a pop-up window. Please hit "OPEN".
- You will see your drives mapped under the "This PC" area of your file explorer.
Off-Campus connection
- If you are off-campus, you must make sure the Cisco VPN Client has been downloaded and is running. Instructions for that can be found here.
- Follow the instructions above to run the Drive Mapper. This should map the drives.
Navigate directly to the Shared Drive
- Open the Start Menu.
- Type or paste the following file path: \\ntdom.cupdx\Storage1\mall . The search bar auto-populates when you start typing or paste.
- The network drive will open on your desktop like any other file window. You can work in the folder as normal!
Create shortcuts
Creating shortcuts can have an advantage over mapping your network drives as it will allow you to connect to more specific folders. The two can be used in tandem if desired.
STUDENT WORKERS: Student workers are usually given direct access to a specific folder, so creating a shortcut is the best way for them to access the data.
- Connect to the CU network. If off-campus, connect to the network using the CU VPN Client.
- Right-click any where on your desktop, and click "New". Choose "Shortcut".

- Name the shortcut. Hit "Finish".
- Your drive will now appear, as you named it, on your computer's desktop.
